CATO – Charles D. Dennison, 88, of Cato passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at home with his loving family. Son of the late Doc and Gladys (Raines) Dennison, he lived all his life in the Cato area. Charlie was a 1950 graduate of Central Cato-Meridian School. Throughout the school he was very involved in 4H and the farming community. In 1953 Charlie married his high school girlfriend Loraine Truax and together they started their farm on Dalton Road in Cato.

Charlie continued his involvement in the farming community for which he received numerous awards and served as chairman of the first town planning council for the town of Ira; serve multiple terms as chairman of the Cayuga County Co-operative Extension Board; serve a term as a trustee at Cato Christian Fellowship Church; having served several terms at the Cato-Meridian School Board; as well as the Cayuga County Legislature representing the towns of Cato, Ira and Conquest. His last service was as Civil Service Commissioner for Cayuga County. Charlie was a life member of the Cato Christian Fellowship Church in Cato.

He was predeceased by his parents; sister, Letha Whitford and brother, Lyle Dennison.

The survivors are his wife of nearly 68 years, Loraine Dennison, of Cato; children: Colleen (John) Leonard, of Martville, Deanna Dennison, of KY, Douglas Dennison, of Cato and Andrew (Barb) Dennison, of Cato; grandchildren: Victoria McCargar, Joshua (Hannah) Leonard, Jeremiah (Liesl) Leonard, Nathan Dennison and Chelsea Dennison; as well as several nieces and nephews.
